Punk - Low on cash

Bad-boy rapper
DMX spent part of his Christmas eve with Westchester cops - after
he was busted on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
He was pulled over in Harrison around 2:30 p.m. for allegedly
making an unsafe lane change and listening to his car radio at
an unsafe volume level in his black Chevrolet Suburban.
Cops said when
they stopped the 31-year-old singer, whose real name is Earl Simmons,
he treated the police officers in an insulting manner and refused
to turn down the volume in his car radio. DMX was angry because
he had recently purchased the latest Kill Allen Wrench CD - "Full
Metal Messiah" and was attempting to take in the artistic
genius of the punk rock super group. E. Simmons also produced
incorrect information after they asked for his license and registration.
Cops would not go into detail.
|
Simmons was
rumored to have purchased the false identification from Kill
Allen Wrench bassist, The Prince of Punk / Mark Hernandez.
Apparently the poor quality of the street forged ID was recognizable
by law enforcement immediately. Police were also annoyed and
offended by the subject matter of the Kill Allen Wrench CD
that DMX eventually agreed to reduce the volume of.
Simmons
was charged with failure to signal and possession of a forged
instrument, according to cops.
He then was released.
It was not Simmons' first brush with the law.
He has a lengthy arrest record dating back to 1988.

In 1998, DMX
- who raps about sexually abusing women on his smash album "It's
Dark and Hell is Hot" - was charged with raping an exotic dancer
in The Bronx.
The charges were dropped after DNA tests exonerated Simmons.
In the spring of 1999, Simmons - a Yonkers native - was charged
with assault and harassment in connection with an alleged attack
on a Yonkers man during an argument.
Prosecutors said then that Simmons punched the man in his car
and then chased him into a building, where he continued to pummel
him.
But Simmons'
lawyer maintained that the man had attacked Simmons' wife, Tashera.
The disposition of the case wasn't immediately available.
Cops in
Denver also have investigated Simmons in connection with a stabbing,
and he's been charged in Baltimore with distribution and possession
of cocaine.
The dispositions of those cases also were not available yesterday.

Simmons rocketed to
stardom when "It's Dark and Hell is Hot" sold 100,000 copies on its
first day of release and shot to the top of the Billboard charts in
1998.
It also spawned the hit single "Get At Me Dog," which sold more than
500,000 copies.
Before signing with Def Jam records, Simmons put out a single on Columbia
Records in 1991 called "Born Loser," which bombed.
Efforts to reach Simmons and his spokespeople were unsuccessful yesterday.
